Potatoes, often called Irish potatoes, are one of the most common traditional garden vegetables. They are pretty unique because they are a cool season crop that can only withstand very light frosts. So, they must be carefully planted in the spring to provide good conditions for growth and production. Selecting cultivars and buying high quality seed potatoes is important. Additionally, management of fertility and weeds and other pests are quite important for good production. This publication covers all of those areas with information and tips for Tennessee gardeners.
