While Tennessee summers often start out wetter than one may expect, late summer is generally a good time of year to begin a fire-wise landscaping plan in your outdoor spaces. Implementing practices within a 30-foot buffer around your home will create an adequate defensible space that will minimize fire risk. An additional fuel break at 50 ft or between your home and adjacent wildland area will add an extra layer of protection.
